Annotation:  The paper sheds light on the spatial formation of the erosion network of the Republic of Mari El. The morphometric characteristics of gullies, small flat-bottomed valleys and the depth of erosion dismemberment of the investigated territory in the sectional view of elementary river basins are determined by the geological-geomorphological areas of the territory of the Republic. For the Right-bank part of the Republic, vertical dismemberment is 123 m on averages, the density of gullies is 0.28 km/km2, of small flat-bottomed valleys is 1.34 km/km2. In the West Left Bank these indicators are 46 m, 0.02 km/km2 and 0.10 km/km2, respectively, and in the East Left Bank are 84 m, 0.05 km/km2 and 0.32 km/km2. Results may be used in assessing the role of the relief in the resettlement at the territory of the Republic and the degree of its development, to predict and justify the options for economic development of the territory, in solving environmental problems related to the use of land, forest and recreational resources.

Keywords:  water erosion, catchment basin, erosion dismemberment, morphostructural relief analysis.
