Value motivation as a strong foundation of teaching foreign languages at non-language university

Annotation: This paper examines the problem of updating positive and value-based motivation of non-linguistic universities students to study a foreign language throughout the whole course of education, as well as the ways and means to increase and support such motivation. The authors of the article analyze the key factors, which determine students’ motives and interest to foreign languages learning, the specific character of teaching foreign languages at non-linguistic educational institutions and the role of motives in the educational process and their value components either. The authors concentrate their attention on the positive and effective experience gained by the Department of foreign languages of Belgorod University of cooperation, economics and law in the sphere of students’ motivation enhancement and its maintenance at the sufficient level. The outcomes of those efforts are resulted from their purposive work, applied teaching technologies and training initiatives throughout the whole period of teaching foreign languages at the university.
