Annotation:  In work on the basis of the analysis of archival (Russian Federation’s State Archives) and published di-plomacy documents of main European countries, the role and place of the problems of the Сivil War in Spain, 1936-1939 are studied in the context of Franco-Soviet relations. The common interests of the two European countries are highlighted in connection with the beginning of the Spanish conflict and the dif-ferences in the formation of the Non-Intervention policy in Spain are revealed. The example of France-USSR relations has showed the influence of Spanish events on the course of the formation of military-political alliances on the eve of the Second World War. France was powerless in many areas; the Franco-Soviet pact was not destined to be realized (not without the influence of the Spanish factor). The failure of France and the USSR consolidation during the Civil War in Spain has marked the beginning of collective security policy’s end.

Keywords:  the pre-war political crisis, the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939, Non-Intervention policy in Spain, Franco-Soviet relations.
