Annotation: The article is devoted to the analysis of socio-political position of the Federal Republic of Germany within a framework of the European Communities (ECSC, EEC and Euratom) in the 1950-60s. The economic mechanisms of the countries of Western Europe were to a greater extent earlier than those of other countries, prepared for close interaction with each other. High dependence of Western European countries on foreign markets and international conditions of reproduction, the similarity of economic structures, their territorial proximity are the factors contributed to the development of integration trends. However, there were other factors of integration. After the Second World War, there was a radical change in the socio-economic structure of Europe. The creation of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance and the refusal of Eastern Europe countries from a market economy have become an obstacle to the development of economic ties between Eastern and Western Europe. As a compensation for losses of the Eastern European market could serve only the intensification of mutual cooperation with each other.
Keywords: political integration, the European Communities, Western Europe countries, the Federal Republic of Germany, economic priorities, democracy principles.
