Annotation: This article deals with some problems faced by the countries of Central Asia after gaining independence, such as unemployment and, as a consequence, labor migration to Western countries, particularly to the United States. It describes the origins of this phenomenon, which were in the low social status of women, lack of working men, domestic violence. The combination of all these factors were devastating to societies of Central Asian countries, causing a "brain drain", weakening the gene pool, the loss of the natural growth of the population and labor force
