Annotation:  The article analyzes the beginning of the formation and dynamics of the gender history of science in Russia as an independent scientific discipline since the late 1990s and up to the present time. Special attention is paid to the role of Dr. N. L. Pushkareva in this process. There were no women studies or gender studies in Soviet history of science presumably because of the peculiarities of the institutionalization process of this discipline in Russia. Conservatism of the community of Russian historians of science, their isolation from civil historians, their mostly scientific background as well is governmental policy also took the place. One can date first arriving of the gender history of science in Russia by the late 90th of the XX century. The very first special conference held in Kostroma in 1997 can be marked as a starting point. Dr. N. L. Pushkareva was one of the guest speakers there and spoke about main goals of the research in the field as well as methods available and needed. Mostly unintentionally she created a program for the future research. During the next period different conferences and workshops were organized by several institutions, collective books on the subject were published and the first results of individual studies were published in the prominent journals. Approximately from 2010th one can see that a community of the researches interested in the women’s and gender studies in Russian history of science began the formation process. A very significant role in it were taken by annual conferences of Russian association of researchers of women’s history, leading by Dr. Pushkareva and those organized by S.I. Vavilov Institute for the history of Science and Technology Russian Academy of Science, Archive of Russian Academy of Science, Department for the history of chemistry of Moscow State University. As of present day there are some number of researchers historians of science, civil historians and scientists interested in women and gender history of Russian science. Although there is no specialized journal yet they publish papers on the subject in the leading historical and academic periodical regularly and are welcomed there. A number of conferences, seminars and workshops are being held annually allowing people from different locations and representing different scientific disciplines and institutions to communicate and to discuss important and interesting points of their research. One cannot argue that women and gender studies in the history of science in Russia already became an independent discipline but the one can see beginning of its emergence.
