Annotation:  Artificial neural networks (ANN) offer an alternative way to tackle complex and ill-defined problems. They can learn fr om examples, are fault tolerant in the sense that they are able to handle noisy and incomplete data, are able to deal with non-linear problems, and once trained can perform predictions and generalizations at high speed. ANN are now widely used in solving a variety of problems and are actively used wh ere conventional algorithmic solutions are ineffective or impossible: control, robotics, pattern recognition, forecasting, medicine, power systems, manufacturing, optimization and signal processing. In this article, the relevance of artificial intelligence (AI) systems is presented, the work in the field of ANN in the management of social and economic systems is analyzed and a conclusion is drawn about the analysis carried out and outlines further action. The result of the analysis showed that the future directions of further research in the field of ANN is the improvement of safety management at hazardous production facilities.
