Annotation:  The article presents an attempt to analyze the changes in modern science in the context of the risk society, the concept of which is being spread in philosophical knowledge with reference to a particular way of handling the uncertainty. The development of post-industrial technogenic civilization occurs by overcom-ing the established limits set by certain traditions or norms, which in its turn requires a non-standard ap-proach, which leads to the necessity of a risky behaviour. The peculiarity of the existence of modern soci-ety is characterized by the fact that it is constantly generating risks as the result of the scientific and tech-nical development. The facts stated above lead to crisis connected with the perceptions of utopian desires to achieve the public good by means of technology and science. In this regard the knowledge about the risks, the methods of overcoming or preventing them, and the means of compensation of negative conse-quences acquires a special value. This leads to transformations in various spheres, including science, which acquires a particular role in the interrelation with risks.

Keywords:  risk, risk society, post-industrial civilization, information-oriented society, science, transdis-ciplinarity of science.
