Annotation: It is very difficult to create a complete picture of the place and role of the peasantry in the events of the Civil War in Yakutia without a concrete historical analysis of its political activity, at the same time, this problem has not so far been the subject of separate consideration by historians. Based on the analysis of various historiographic sources and works of contemporary publicists, the article considers the basic conditions for the formation of the socio-economic situation and political preferences of the peasantry of Yakutia in the period of 1921-1923. The author comes to the conclusion that in the studied territory the trigger for the growth of political activity of the peasantry was the activa-tion of civil confrontation, guided by which the peasantry solved the problem of reproducing and preserving the products of their labor for their own consumption in ways that were accessible to them. The author's conclusions would be used in further scientific work on the history of the Civil War in Yakutia. The practical value of the study consists in the possibility of using its results in teaching activities for studying and deepening the understanding of the events of 1921-1923.
