Annotation:  Labor productivity has recently been extremely underestimated by the leaders of many Russian companies. Meanwhile, this is one of the most important indicators of economic development. The paper is concerned with theoretical aspects of labor productivity, the evolution of views on the development of this issue, its structure and the reasons why labor productivity issues are extremely important for the development of any economy.
