VALUE OF THE SEVASTOPOL DEFENSIVE OPERATION AT THE INITIAL STAGE OF THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

Annotation:  Influence of the Sevastopol defensive operation on the general course of battles of the Great Patriotic War at her initial stage in 1941-1942 is considered. Namely the questions connected with long deduction of forces and means of the 11th German army together with parts of the satellites of Germany in the territory of the Crimea during defense of Sevastopol. Besides, the contribution of the Sevastopol defense to im-plementation of the Crimean landings to the specified period and consequences of these operations for defense of the city is considered. Also the questions connected with a situation on the southern site of the Soviet-German front and in the Black Sea region after leaving by the Soviet troops of Sevastopol in 1942 are raised. New historical sources of the Sevastopol defensive operation, - archival materials of the Cen-tral archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are introduced for scientific use.
