Annotation:  The article characterizes some of the work of Soviet intelligence and counterintelligence during the preparatory period and directly during the Battle of Kursk 1943. Identified materials undermine the foundations of the modern stereotypes fiction titles about employees "SMERSH" as bloodthirsty and cowardly dropping decent people in the NKVD and camp. Showing their painstaking and everyday extraordinary work in the fight against German agents and traitors, even now causing conflicting assessments
