A review of research of the «betrayal» concept in foreign and Russian scientific literature is done. The
spiritual sources of this concept are analyzed through the analysis of its multiple meaning and figurative
expression in the Bible in two translations - the Synod Russian translation and English King James Bible.
It is clarified, that the Russian version of the Bible allows to interpret this concept deeper, than King
James Bible. The Holy Scriptures directly indicate, that a betrayer is a man who violates the
commandments of God. The Bible also allows to see the whole variety of characteristics of a betrayer.
Then in the article the ways of expression of the «betrayal» concept in the Koran are examined. It is
clarified, that as a condemned act a betrayal in the Koran is determined only with respect to Allah, but
between people it is prescribed as a norm. According to the Koran a liar, a deceiver is Allah himself. It is
concluded that, in comparison with the Bible, the representations of the «betrayal» concept in the Koran are characterized by poorer language. Collation of the Russian and the English translations of the Koran
also allows to talk about the hidden, hardly expressed character of the «betrayal» concept in the Koran in
comparison with the biblical text, as well as to mark out a specific representation of this concept in the
word of «disbelievers / unbelievers», which has a higher frequency in comparison with its other
representatives, and tendentious character
