Annotation: The article is devoted to the review of the reports of the participants of the International scientific and practical conference "Energy law: models and trends of development", held on October 4 – 5, 2019 in Belgorod state national research University. The following topical issues of energy law development were discussed at the conference: 1) is energy law a branch of law or a branch of legislation; 2) what legal relations are the subject of energy law; 3) improvement of energy legislation; 4) implementation of digital transformation in the energy sector; 5) whether the energy product; 6) specifics of developing competition on the markets; 7) issues of responsibility in the energy sector; 8) energy law of China, Bulgaria, Serbia, Belarus, etc. The article not only discusses the problems in the energy sector, but the discussion of these problems, suggests ways of their solution, as well as ways to improve energy legislation. The international scientific and practical conference "Energy law: models and trends of development" held by NRU "BelGU" provided its participants with an opportunity to exchange their experience and opinions on the prospects for the development of energy law, both in Russia and other countries, and in the world as a whole. It has become a platform for solving legal problems facing the energy sector.
