Annotation:  The article is devoted to the problem of preserving cultural and historical values taken out by Armenians from the Crimea during their migration to the Don in the XVIIIth century. Among these values were church utensils, khachkars, ancient manuscripts. All of them became from time to time an object of study of visiting scholars, mostly of a spiritual rank. However, for a long time, the public of Nakhichevan-on-Don was faced with the task of preserving this valuable asset, which was stored in churches, in the building of the city duma, and even in the hands of individuals. All this necessitated the creation of a city museum in which all these values could be collected in one place. Such attempts were made at the beginning of 20th century, first by the director of the local theological seminary E. Shakhaziz, and the famous artist M.S. Saryan, and resulted in the creation of a city museum in 1921. However E. Shakhaziz and M. Saryan left Nakhichevan-on-Don soon and went to Armenia, taking out some of the ancient Armenian manuscripts there. The problem of preserving the cultural and historical Crimean Armenians was resolved after the creation of the Museum of Russian-Armenian Friendship.
