Sevastopol printed media in modern times: social, cultural, gen-re and thematic features

Annotation:  Due to the reunification of the Republic of Crimea with Russian Federation all spheres of peninsular life integration into the Russian legal field commenced. As a consequence media market of the Republic of Crimea and the city of federal relevance Sevastopol has undergone significant changes. Since aggregate figures of the Sevastopol printed media amount, number of copies printed, periodicity, subjects is unavailable, given research may be regarded as relevant. When analyzing Sevastopol printed mass media the city social and cultural features such as patriotism, multinationality, mass festive celebrations, the existence of city special status throughout all its history and its status of the city of federal relevance since 2014 were taken into consideration. Mentioned factors have impact upon the city informational agenda. Informational materials in the newspapers are used more often than analytical. The author points out that the genre choosing is determined by a number of factors, among which are rather low budgets for employees’ fee and correspondingly moderate level of employees’ professional expertise. Texts of such genres do not demand considerable time, intellectual and material inputs. As for the thematic diversity the most prevalent are social city news. Political agenda is topical too for the reason that decisions of many urgent issues depend on authority actions.
