Theoretical bases of review of lacunae

Annotation:  As the title implies the article describes basic approaches to the consideration of the linguistic phenomenon lacunarity. The article gives a detailed analysis of different scientific definitions of lacunae. The history of the concept, as well as the stages of lacunology development are noted. Attempts are made to analyze classification of lacunas. In particular, all the lacunae should be subdivided into the linguistic and cultural, which in their turn are subdivided into their particular types. The article is of great help in the description of cultural identity lingual cultural communities who are in the process of intercultural communication. The research is ended with the conclusion that the systematization of lacunae helps to investigate the problems of other–culture-texts understanding and makes the intercultural information exchange more effective. The article is of interest in the process of researching intercultural communication and also for students studying translation and, in particular, the phenomenon of lacunarity
