Annotation:  Based on the analysis of the available scientific publications and some archival documents it is considered the controversial aspect – the quantitative composition and names of settlements of Russian Cossack families on the territory of Northern China. It is noted that, despite well coverage of studies of the history of Russian emi-grate in China as a whole and the history of cossack population of the region, a clear picture of the territorial distribution of the Cossacks, the names of all settlements, the number of people in the settlements on the terri-tory under consideration, for today, historians have not been created. The sources of the study, were the reports of representatives of organizations of Russian emigrants in China, which provides data on the existance of Cossack settlements in the area in the late 1920s – early 1930s. It is noted that, in the scientific literature there is no complete indignation of the characteristics of the fate of all Cossack settlements in the region in the fu-ture, which determines the need for further study of the problem.
