Annotation:  The article explores the development of industrial production in Russia. Analytical data describing industrial growth in leading foreign leading countries is presented. An assessment is given of regional differences in the structure of industrial production. The authors outline conceptual approaches to the development of regional industrial policies. The relevance of the research topic is determined by the strategic goals of the national economy for the long term, given by the country's leadership. The main ones are the transition to a new technological structure, a change in the structure of the economy and the development of import substitution. These are indispensable conditions for ensuring economic growth and improving the quality and living standards of the population. The work uses statistical, regulatory, legislative and analytical materials. Various aspects of the formation of the main priorities, principles and tasks of the regional industrial policy are considered
