The views of admiral A.S. Shishkov on the estates question in Russia

Annotation:  The article examines the views of admiral A. S. Shishkov on the estates question in Russia at the end of XVIII - the first quarter of the XIX century. He was a russian nobleman and advocated the preservation of caste system. Admiral wanted to realize the idea of national unity of the Russian people in a class inequality. His conservatism in the Estates matter, largely, determined by the idea of social stability and rejection of revolutionary upheavals. Maintaining the stability of the social hierarchy in Russia Shishkov laid on autocratic power. In his journalism, he contrasted the simple people westernized gentry who perceive emancipatory ideas of the Western Enlightenment
