Annotation:  The article includes empirical material describing the development of the renovationist schism in the Rus-sian Church on the territory of the southern districts of Kursk province in the 1920-1930s. The docu-ments, which are introduced into scientific use for the first time, reveal regional peculiarities of renova-tionism‘s distribution , the role of the diocesan leadership, parish clergy and ordinary believers as for the distribution and in opposition to the split. The article presents new materials on the activities of the Kursk and Belgorod bishop Nikon (Purlevsky), Belgorod archpriest Alexey Popov and other notable individuals in the Church history of the region during this period.
